Method of Numbering of Corona Fours

Each year a new letter is used to prefix the serial number:
E - 1924 H - 1925 K - 1926 L - 1927
M - 1928 P - 1929 A - 1930 B - 1931
B & C - 1932 C & D - 1933 EO - 1934 HO - 1935
KO - 1936 LO - 1937 LxM - 1938 LxP - 1939
LxA - 1940 LxA - 1941

Serials are repeated each two months of each year, comensing with 00,001. This system apparently began in 1926. This scheme was modified starting in 1934 when CORONA added another character to the year designation and subtracted a didget from the number. There are curently no widely known guidelines to differentiate a Zero and the Letter O, expert guidence welcome. The lower case x is standing in for the month codes listed below.

The number before the letter denotes the month:
1 - Jan. and Feb. 4 - July and Aug.
2 - Mar. and Apr. 5 - Sept and Oct.
3 - May and June 6 - Nov. and Dec.

Example 1: 3H-03,267 - machine 3,267 of series manufactured in May or June 1925.

Example 2: L5P-00,698 - machine 698 of series manufactured in September or October 1939.

The dash and the comma are not present with serial number on machine. For those machine with a leading character — except for 'L' (unless the machine is Lavender in color) —, that leading character related to the finish of the machine.
